Stymied

I am stymied by little things. I consider myself to be very resilient. Can one have resilience yet be completed unraveled by how the new iPhone formats your photos? I think I could manage the traumatic amputation of a limb easier than being unable to add media to a blog post because it is formatted as a .heic file. I am build and conditioned for catastrophe. I flow in the adrenaline of chaos. But these little things absolutely paralyze me.  And why can’t technology be cohesive? Its as if appliance makers all decided to create their own electrical plugs leaving up to the owner to figure out how to plug it into an outlet so it is operational. I take a ton of pictures. My picture automatically upload (download?) to my Google storage site (which I have to pay for) yet, when I try to download them (and then reupload them) onto this blog site……nope. A big giant nope. Initially they were all micromovies. Milliseconds of a “live” photo. I figured out how to turn that off. But now I have this .heic file extension. And wordpress will not utilize them. What happened to the .jpg? Why did they need to make .heic? What the actual?

These are the things that make me feel old. Outdated. Inflexible. I want to be adaptive but honestly, this shit isn’t logical. This is Edison vs Tesla (as in AC vs DC) but on a massive scale. And this ridiculously expensive pocket device that is a computer, camera, recorder, scrapbook, archive, internet, phone, tracker, omnipod of tech should play nice and compatibly with other omnipod devices.  It is supposed to make life and living easier and smoother and YET!

So instead of showing a photo of the house plant that is blooming the most adorable, diminutive maroon, bell-shaped flowers, I’ve had to dig through my archive photos for a photo of something that represents October and what is currently in bloom. Muhly grass always represents. It is one of the few things in the yard that is exploding with color.

I can’t share a picture of my newly delivered garlic that I will plant and patiently wait until next summer to harvest. I feared that the garlic I grew and harvested earlier this year was insufficient, it is October and I have not purchased garlic at the store since May.

I can’t share a photo of the fall decorations I made on the front porch with an absurd amount of pumpkins I purchased at the Gainesville Church of God “Buy and Pumpkin, Feed a Child” event. And I can’t add hyperlinks to those places from the photos.

I can’t share a photo of the chocolate colored cosmos blooming in my planters at the end of the driveway.

Because I have been stymied by technology and that starts to feel intentionally cumbersome and intractable. I am not one of the cool, clever kids anymore.
